Please include a brief summary of what you would like from me, details like size, material (stretched/unstretched canvas or wood panel), your subject matter - please be very detailed with this, include photos even if they are just inspiration, and if you would like me to work directly from a photo, please ensure it is high quality and in focus*, and whether you would need it shipped or would like to pick up the final painting.
If you are unsure of any of these details, don't be afraid to just reach out, we can work things out later if needed! I'm more than happy to help out when it comes to choosing the best options for your needs.
*If the photo you have is blurry or the subject is obscured, please provide other photos of the subject; the more angles, the better understanding I will have.
Cost and time estimates
With the information you have provided, and after we have specifications in order, I’ll send you an estimate of both time and cost. These have a few variables, so I can only provide a true estimation with all the information after initial contact.
Payments will be made through a custom product or bank transfer (NZ) only. Cash exceptions can be made for pick-up scenarios.
Brief
After solidifying an understanding between both you and I, I’ll write up a brief that will both act as a reference to look towards for the direction of the painting through check-in phases, and a contract that includes the more technical details, of costs, shipping, and timelines.
Check-in
During the painting process, I will have two check-in phases. Once after the initial sketch and once after major blocking, before detailing. I am happy to make larger changes in the first phase, but in the pre-detail check-in, only small alterations can be made before the final pass, and please be specific! I want us both to love the outcome.
After Care
After receiving your painting in the mail, it’ll be ready to hang up right out of the box! If not hung, it should be stored standing upright and not pressed against anything, as that can both damage the paint and the canvas (if you choose this material). If any stretching or warping happens to your stretched canvas, there will be stretcher wedges included to mitigate this.
Your painting will arrive unvarnished as it takes up to a year for the paint to be dry enough to varnish it. When it's ready, if you have decided you would like it varnished, you can most likely take it to a local gallery or painter and pay for a varnishing service, or you can send it back to me to do for free (though shipping would need to be paid for both ways).
